Luke Scott, Design Manager at PMS Diecasting, has been honoured with the Pontifex Travel Award by the Worshipful Company of Armourers & Brasiers in the City of London under the recommendation of a committee including the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire.

The Pontifex Award is part of the joint education scheme between the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire and the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers which annually distributes prizes and awards for students at Sheffield Hallam University and young managers in the steel industry.

Following an interview before an esteemed panel of Master Cutlers and Braisers, Luke was selected from the finalists and awarded the £1000 travel award.

Luke told us “PMS Diecasting is investing into a major game saving technology emerging in the diecasting industry allowing our foundry to produce parts more inline with an injection moulding process therefore reducing cycle times, producing higher yield and providing large energy savings. This optimisation of our process will provide huge cost benefits to the business and has a steep learning curve to both design applications and processing procedures.

PMS has also invested in additional four slide machines which offers the possibilities of casting more advanced components critical to PMS Diecasting’s future strategy. I will go out to visit this partner to better understand the machine capabilities and tooling requirements for producing such parts. I will also be travelling to meet our new technology partners in Germany to learn more about our investment with trials beginning in mid-2017.”
